Pitch

Plot Outline
My film will be based around a male cop, who, behind closed doors, works with the criminals he is supposed to be capturing. The gang of criminals participate in national drug trades, and as a result of this, violence and death accompanies their activities as the film will have strong themes of loyalty and corruption. As a result of the feedback received from carrying out a focus group and questionnaire, I will stick to the majority of the classic crime conventions, and keep it realistic by using genuine characters that the audience can relate to.

Character Choices
Murphy Hassock is the main protagonist. He is a white British male, aged 26, and he lives and works in London as a detective for the City of London Police. He comes across as confident and clever, however he is also a good liar.
His detective partner is James Bastow, he is a well respected member of the police force, and despite his professionalism, he has a humorous side that is sometimes seen in the film to create verisimilitude.
Tyrone (Ty) and Jordan are two of the main members of the gang. They are ruthless and well known for their trouble making.
Other characters include other people working for the police, the superintendent, other gang members and people involved in the drug trade, as well as innocent people (e.g. Jordan's girlfriend Lila).

Production Company
The film will be produced under the company 'Globe Productions'. I will ensure their name and logo appear in the opening title sequence to stick to the typical conventions.

Film Title
As the film is based around the heavily contrasting double lives lead by Murphy, I began by looking in a thesaurus for other words that would reflect this. I found that the word dichotomy fitted this best as it means "a division or contrast between two things that are or are represented as being opposed or entirely different".

Influences
Some of my initial influences came from watching the TV series Top Boy. Despite it being a series, I could still use what I had learned from certain themes, such as how gang culture works, and the different ways people can experience growing up in London. After I had chosen to make a crime film, I researched other films that followed this genre. Films such as Reasonable Doubt, The Wolf of Wall Street, and Gone Girl have all influenced my decisions in different ways.
